We have seen over the last two years how Twitter understands its users and addresses the inconsistencies, and underwhelming features in its application. The social media giant is regularly rolling out value additions and new exciting features in the recent past.

One such big release in the queue is ‘Twitter Notes’, an answer to Twitter’s long pending inability. In this blog, we bring you updates on the recent features and value addition features expected to be launched soon or recently launched,

‘Unmention’ Option Is Live

We all would have been in scenarios where we are mentioned in a tweet or a conversation that we would not have wanted to be a part of. Especially, if you are a business account or an account with a good chunk of followers, you would have found yourself tagged in conversations without your consent and not much could be done by you in those cases.

This new feature launched this week will let you leave a conversation or remove yourself from a mentioned tweet.

How to do this? It is simple. Click on the three-dot icon on the tweet. You will find a ‘Leave this conversation’ option available. Choosing the option will remove you from the conversation.

What will happen? your name will continue to be there in the tweet, but your account will be untagged. People in the conversation will not be able to mention you again in the conversation. Also, you will not receive any notifications from the conversation anymore.

‘Twitter Notes’ Is In Test Mode

Finally, soon you will be able to write and share long forms on Twitter. Twitter’s character limit has long been a topic of discussion and now Twitter is all set to put an end to the commentary.

Primarily, if someone publishes a note, you will see the note with a small preview. Clicking on it will open the note inside Twitter itself. 

Currently, this feature is launched only in a few countries to only a limited number of users to see the reception. If you are one of them and want to write a note, you can write a note of up to 2500 words and publish it. Before you ask, you can also edit the note you created and that will not disturb the already existing link you shared in your timeline or through DM.

You can also shares notes written by other Twitter users. It is indeed simple and easy. You can straightaway share it to your timeline or send a note as a direct message to an account you follow.

Notes will more or less be very similar to how you share regular tweets. Only very actions will be different. For instance, you can report a note like how you report a tweet. Whereas you will not be able to like or react to a note in the note itself. You will be able to do the same in the post in the account though.

Soon You Can Co-Tweet

Yes, you read it right. Soon you will be able to have two authors for a single tweet. This will be a welcome option between creators, collaborators, and business accounts.

Co-tweeting is easy. You write a tweet and add another account as a Co-tweeter. If the other account accepts your Co-tweet request, then the tweet will be published in both of your timelines. A co-tweet will display both user’s profile picture and username in the timeline along with the tweet. So, the followers will be easily able to identify a Co-tweet.

For composing the content of the tweet, Twitter encourages to use DM to discuss and confirm the content of the tweet. Once an invite is sent to an account to be the Co-author, you will not be able to edit the tweet.

Currently, you will be allowed to send the request to only one of the people you follow, as the Co-author limit is currently two. We can wait and see if Twitter will be adding an option to add more Co-authors to one tweet.

This feature is still in the early stages though and we can expect a few more improvements in the feature when it hits live.
