Three New Twitter Features You Need to Know About
Twitter in the last few days has released glimpses of a few new features. Of the ones in testing and the ones which are released to a selected group of users, there are a few features that can be very good value addition depending on your profile type.
In this blog, we bring you the top three features to look forward to in the coming days from Twitter,
Soon You Will See ‘Tweets Per Month’ In Twitter Profiles
This feature is going to be a new favorite once launched for all. To give a context, a recent research states that only 10 percent of users contribute to 80 percent of tweets on Twitter. There is one more interesting observation in the research, an average user tweets only twice per month. So, a feature like this can be more than handy than we think it to be.
Once this feature is live, you will be able to see in the profile of any Twitter user with the information about the frequency of his/ her tweets.
More often than not, when we wish to follow a certain user, we would like to know how regularly they tweet. A few of us like to follow accounts that are very active. While there are others, who would not want their timeline flooded with tweets from the same account.
In these scenarios, we usually will scroll through the home timeline of a Twitter user to know and follow the account. In a few days, this will become easy as in the account home, you will see the number of tweets the account shares per month.
Status Gets a New Tweak
We have already reported in our recent blogs that Twitter is working on bringing a Whatsapp/ Instagram style status option to its users. The feature is now available for only a selected set of users as a pilot experiment.
In the recent update on the ‘Status’ feature, it looks like Twitter is trying to add a ‘topic/ mood’ kind of option to the regular status feature. If you have used Facebook, you would have observed options like “Watching/ Playing/ Feeling Happy” kind of labels that you can add to your post to give a better context to the post.
A similar option is what we are going to see from Twitter too. Whatsapp and Instagram do not have such options now. So, that will be a difference you will observe with Twitter status in comparison to Whatsapp and Instagram.
However, there is one major difference we observed from Labels in Twitter status to Facebook posts. ‘Labels’ in Twitter Status are more like giving an idea about the topic/ mood. Whereas with Facebook, the labels are more about an activity you do.
Well, here comes the favorite part. With the label in a tweet, you can follow the label to see the similar statuses in the same label. This allows a user to look for statuses in only the themes he likes.
Location Spotlight Gets An Upgrade
Twitter has recently rolled out the ‘Location Spotlight’ feature to all users across the globe. A month back, the feature was only available for users from the US, Australia, Canada, and the UK.
‘Location Spotlight’ allows you to add more details about your business. This helps your prospective customers to find and use your service with ease. For instance, if you are running a flower shop, you can mention the timings, flowers you sell, and the address details of the shop. Using Location Spotlight, a user can navigate through maps to reach your shop.
This feature is well received in the countries where it was already launched. The expectation is for the feature to receive a similar reception from the global audience.
In an upgrade to this, to assist businesses better, Twitter is launching a new series. ‘Taking Care Of Business’ is the name of this new series feature. This will be a monthly live interactive series to educate and help businesses on Twitter grow better. This ‘Taking Care Of Business’ live series is still in its early stages. Hence we can see more improvements adapted into the series before it becomes live all over the world.
