All You Need to Know about Relaunched Twitter Verification Process
Twitter has recently relaunched their ‘Account verification’ process. For beginners, a verified account will carry a ‘blue verified badge’ near the handle name. A verified account is considered authentic, and users generally trust a verified account.
Twitter in their recent statement mentioned that they ran elaborate surveys and have improved the verification process based on the user inputs. Having both manual and automatic processes for verification and being more inclusive were the major takeaways of the relaunched process.
The new Twitter verification still has its flaws and is far from perfect. But without a doubt, it is a step up from the already existing process. If you are already a verified account owner or planning to get your account verified, you will be having a lot of questions about the impact of the relaunched verification process. In this blog, we have outlined all the information about the relaunched Twitter verification process.
Owner of an already verified Twitter profile?
Remember Twitter has the right to revoke your ‘verified’ badge anytime. If your ‘verified’ status is revoked, you will be receiving an email and an in-app notification about the same. Revoking a verified status can happen because of multiple reasons. Here are the common reasons:
- Twitter revokes the ‘verified’ badge if your profile is incomplete. A complete profile contains a verified email address or mobile number, ‘profile image’ and a ‘display name’, according to Twitter. The same checks would have been done when your account was granted the ‘verified’ badge. If your account details have changed after that and is incomplete, you run the risk of losing the verified badge.
- Inactiveaccounts will lose the ‘verified’ badge.
- If the account owner’s position changed and it does not match the account.
- Repeated violation of any of the basic Twitter rulescan land your ‘verified’ badge in trouble.
Constantly check if your verified account satisfies the above condition to avoid the risk of losing your verified badge.
Please note that only Twitter can remove your ‘verified’ badge and you cannot place a request to get your ‘verified’ badge removed. Till the latest relaunched version, there is no option for a user to request to remove the ‘verified’ status. However, it is expected that Twitter will roll out this option soon.
